ABOUT ME
Hello and Welcome to My Blog!
Though my degrees are in Economics and Law, I have been interested in health and informally studying it for about a couple of decades. I was drawn to integrated/holistic medicine because I did see the body as a unit, with every organ having an impact on the other organs within the body. The idea that there were natural solutions to health issues and that supplements could be taken to gain health was extremely palatable. However, after ten years, I never really achieved the desirable health outcomes with this strategy. Though I learned a lot and still favour natural solutions, it was missing a blue print so to speak for gaining health.

It was ten years later that I learned about the gut microbiome and the power of food as medicine. It was shortly after that, that I discovered the work of Dr. Natasha Campbell McBride and the GAPS Nutritional Protocol, giving me a blue print I could follow. I happily gave up the numerous supplements and hormones I had been taking and became a strict adherent to the diet and the protocol. The rest is history, today I am a Certified GAPS coach still adhering to the protocol because it works and I feel good. I am full of energy, I love the foods I eat. I have always preferred the leg and thigh of a chicken to the breast. I love eggs and bacon. I discovered fermented foods and have come to love them in part because of the value they add to my health as well as now enjoying the taste. I continue to eat certain vegetables and once in a while treat myself to almond cookies sweetened with dates or honey.

Take control of your health is a motto used often in the holistic/integrated health field. I believe there is value in that and I hope that this blog can help inform choices you make to not only take control of your health but also to gain good health, which is in my opinion very much within your reach.
